Many people have heard of people who are dealing with bipolar on a daily basis. However, not many people know what it is exactly. So you need to ask yourself, what is bipolar disorder? Bipolar disorder can be characterized by the extreme mood swings, energy, and the ability to function properly. People who have had a bipolar diagnosis will have changes in their mood that are more dramatic than the ups and downs that are normal for other people. Having this illness has been known to cause problems with relationships, poor job performance or school performance. There are two different bipolar mood extremes that people with this illness will have to deal with at some point in their life. One of the mood extremes is mania, which is a surge of energy where your mood can be overly euphoric or irritable. The second extreme is the depressive aspect, which can result in lethargy that will take over and your mood will become very low. You may have severe episodes of either one of these mood extremes which can be associated with psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions or thoughts that are disordered. You can find two forms of the bipolar illness. There is the bipolar 1 disorder and the bipolar 2 disorder. Bipolar I will involve episodes that are recurring where you will experience both mania and depression. The Bipolar II disorder involves episodes that are milder and they will alternate with depression episodes. The bipolar definition is a disorder that affects your moods. The mood swings will cause times of depression where you will feel sad and hopeless. Then there will be times of mania where you will have a severely elevated mood. These bipolar episodes are known for affecting your behavior, energy level, your ability to function normal and even your ability to make good decisions and to think clearly. There is no known cure for this disease but there is some bipolar medicine that has been approved to provide bipolar help by treating the phases of this illness. There is medicine to treat the manic episodes and the depressive episodes. You just need to talk to your doctor about bipolar disorder medications that can help you. Here are some of the bipolar symptoms that you need to be aware of. Think of them as a range of emotions that can affect your daily life. Severe mania symptoms can be characterized by times of elated moods, which will mean that you may have racing thoughts, extreme irritability or reckless behavior. In the middle of the different episodes you will find that you will have a normal or balanced mood states. This will be the time that you will not have any signs of bipolar and known bipolar symptoms. You will be free to live a more normal life during this time period. The depression episode can be mild, moderate or severe. It can involve overwhelming feelings of sadness, worthlessness and even hopelessness. If you experience any of these symptoms of bipolar than it is imperative that you talk to your doctor immediately so you can get help. |
